Inspired by antique buckle jewelry, this sterling silver necklace carries a meaning that reaches back centuries. The buckle became especially beloved during the Victorian era, when jewelry was often used to quietly communicate what words could not.

Because a buckle fastens and holds two things together, it came to symbolize loyalty, fidelity, strength, and enduring love. Buckle jewelry was exchanged between sweethearts, friends, and family members as a reminder of the connection between them. It also found its way into Victorian mourning jewelry, where the fastening buckle represented a beautiful sentiment: some bonds cannot be undone, even by loss.

Our version is handcrafted in sterling silver with the softly aged details of a piece that might have been discovered in an old jewelry box. At its center is a rich pink sapphire, adding a touch of color to this tiny keepsake.
